HERRICK BROWN & Company Ltd.
1. We have over the years done quite a bit of work with MS Access, as it is such a widely used program. If you want to use data from a database in a Microsoft Excel worksheet, the modules here might be of interest. And if you want to transfer Excel Data to Access, try this. If you want to output multiple Word documents from within Access, click here. When necessary, we make new Visual Basic Functions, including : AmountInWords() - that can be used to produce the words for cheque printing or similar tasks - with a demo that you can download. WorkingDay() - that implements the International Swap Dealers Association - ISDA - Business Day convention. A very common design problem is how to store names and addresses. Click note for some thoughts about preparing Names & Addresses for use in databases.
2. We were allowed to publish details of one of our ongoing projects.
3. An interesting add-on to a project involved using a modem capable of responding to DTMF tones to capture information from the client's employees. Similar modems with even more functionality are now available. Recently, we have integrated a Nortel Norstar Business Communications Manager system with an Access database, using a Tapi 2.1 control to provide one-click-dialing of the telephone numbers in the database.

5. We have long had an interest in "the internet", and worked on an early proposal for a home shopping scheme, details here. A long standing interest in smart cards, electronic purses etc led to us being asked to produce a short article on micropayments on the internet which is reproduced here.
